the New Jersey cemetery where Whitney Houston is buried has had to close its gates to the public after too many fans tried visiting her grave. Houston was buried Sunday next to her father at the Fairview Cemetery in Westfield.

Houston’s grave is covered with mounds of bouquets, and more flowers keep coming, a tribute to the lives she touched. But the Houston family fearing fans may want to get too close to Whitney have put in extra safeguards–sinking a one thousand pound piece of concrete on top of her buried casket to make sure no one disturbs her final resting place.

Family members of the late singer who tried to visit her grave asked cemetery officials to control the number of visitors. Police started restricting access to the cemetery Monday afternoon, allowing only those with relatives buried there to enter.

Westfield Police say they will be on round the clock patrols for weeks to come to make sure overzealous mourners respectfully pay their respects. Whitney died February 11, 2012, in a Beverly Hills hotel room. She was born in Newark, N.J., and grew up there and in nearby East Orange, where she sang in a church choir. Houston was 48.
